This appeal addressed the propriety of "package" plea deals, in which a defendant pleads guilty in exchange for the prosecutor’s agreement to drop charges against a spouse or family member. Here, the defendant and dentist Bryan Spilmon pled guilty to Medicaid fraud; and the government dropped charges against his wife. ...
